The Qiandao Lake Marathon, also known as the Thousand Island Lake Marathon, was first held in 2015. Named for the 1,078 islands scattered across its clear, calm waters, the lake is surrounded by mountains and waterfalls, creating a landscape like a classical painting. The race features full, half, and fun run categories, with a course passing through the lake’s most iconic scenic spots. A highlight is the stretch overlooking the islands, historically described as “jade beads on a plate of sapphire,” offering runners a memorable combination of challenge and natural beauty.
