Chuxiong Mararhon

The Chuxiong Marathon is held annually in Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, attracting around 10,000 runners to the heart of Yi culture in southwestern China. As a flagship event opening the renowned Yi Torch Festival season, the race combines endurance running with one of China's most vibrant ethnic celebrations. Set on a comfortable plateau course in central Yunnan, runners enjoy cool temperatures, gentle elevation changes, and wide-open views throughout the race. The event is distinguished by its strong cultural identity, offering participants an immersive experience of Yi traditions, music, costumes, and hospitality. Known as the “City of Fire,” Chuxiong comes alive during the Torch Festival period, creating a unique atmosphere where sport and culture meet.
