Kunming Half Marathon

The Kunming Half Marathon is one of Southwest China’s most popular road races, held annually in Kunming since 2012. Attracting around 12,000 runners, the event takes place at an elevation of 1,891 meters, within the internationally recognized “golden altitude zone” for endurance sports, making it a favorite among runners seeking both performance and highland training benefits. The course showcases the natural beauty of Dianchi Lake, following scenic sections such as Huanhu East Road, Guanjing Road, and the Dianchi Greenway. Runners enjoy uninterrupted views of the lake, wetlands, flower fields, and waterfront trails, creating one of China’s most visually rewarding half marathon experiences. The route combines open lakeside scenery with lush ecological landscapes, offering spectacular views throughout the race. Beyond its natural beauty, the event also reflects the rich cultural diversity of Yunnan, including the traditions of the Yi ethnic people.
