Run the Ulan Buh Desert Trail and experience the rare landscape where vast desert dunes meet lakes and the Yellow River in northern China.
The Ulan Buh Desert Trail is a unique desert running event held in Wuhai, where the Ulan Buh Desert meets the waters of Wuhai Lake. Offering 5 km, 10 km, 30 km, and 50 km distances, the race showcases one of China's most remarkable geographical landscapes, where desert and water coexist side by side. The course is built around the dramatic scenery of the Ulan Buh Desert and Wuhai Lake, connecting landmarks such as local vineyards, lakeside scenery, and traditional Mongolian cultural sites. While shorter distances offer an accessible desert experience, the 50 km race ventures deep into the heart of the dunes, challenging runners with soft sand, remote terrain, and vast open landscapes. A desert adventure where golden dunes, lakes, and the Yellow River create one of China’s most extraordinary trail running experiences.
