About Events

The Venice Marathon takes place in the world-famous city of Venice, which is inscribed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site under the designation “Venice and its Lagoon.” Renowned for its canals, bridges, and historic architecture, Venice is one of the most distinctive cities in the world. The race begins in the Veneto region and follows the Brenta Canal toward the historic center of Venice, eventually entering the lagoon city itself. Runners experience medieval urban layouts, Renaissance and Byzantine architecture, and the unique relationship between water and city life that shaped Venice as a powerful maritime republic. One of the most iconic features of the Venice Marathon is the temporary floating bridge that allows runners to cross the canals in the final kilometers and approach St. Mark’s Square. This dramatic finish makes the event one of the most visually recognizable marathons worldwide.
