The Ultra Trail Mount Liupan is a premier mountain running event held in Guyuan as part of the China Mountain Trail Series. Set in the scenic Liupan Mountains, the race offers 90 km, 50 km, 30 km, and 15 km distances across alpine meadows, forest trails, and mountain ridgelines. Known for its cool summer climate, with average temperatures around 18°C and forest coverage exceeding 70%, Liupan Mountain provides ideal conditions for trail running. The course features a mix of runnable highland grasslands and technical mountain terrain, creating a rewarding challenge for runners of all levels. Beyond the trails, the region is rich in history and culture. Once part of the eastern Silk Road, Guyuan is home to ancient grottoes, frontier fortresses, early Chinese civilization sites, and sections of the historic Red Army Long March route. A trail race combining mountain adventure, alpine scenery, Silk Road heritage, and one of China’s coolest summer running destinations.
